POST: Help us build a vital new artist-led cultural space in Brighton

Kickstarter campaign launching today

Dear friends and colleagues,

I can’t quite believe it’s been over six months since my last newsletter, however, I’ve been busy working on something new, which I’m now excited to share with you all!

POST is a new artist-led creative space in Brighton & Hove, offering affordable artist spaces, a community darkroom, a gallery, photography studio, libary and workshop space. It’s a response to a clear and growing need: artists in our city are being priced out, and space to make and connect is disappearing fast.

We’ve secured a 3,000 sq/ft site. Now we need your help to make it real.

We’re offering some brilliant rewards:

  • Limited edition, signed photographic prints & books with works by Martin Parr, Laura Pannack, Finn Hopson, Marilyn Stafford, Syd Shelton, Jessica Van Der Weert & Laura El-Tantawy.

  • Introductory POST membership offers (at early bird prices)

  • Invitations to the launch and future exhibitions

  • Portfolio reviews, mentorships and workshop vouchers

Please do take a look at our campaign video by clicking on any of the link here to learn about this vital project and how you can support it.

This Kickstarter is to help cover the initial renovation phase which will take place in August & September — the foundations of a space that we hope will serve our city for years to come.

"Given that Brighton must have the greatest number of photographers after London, I find it astonishing that there has never been an active photography-related centre with a gallery, library and place for photographers to meet. All the more reason to support this endeavour!” — Martin Parr

Every pledge helps us build this space from the ground up — and shows that artist-led, sustainable creative spaces matter.

Even if you can’t back us financially right now, you can still help hugely by sharing the campaign with friends, fellow artists, and anyone who cares about the future of the arts in Brighton.

Thank you for being part of this with us.

Warmly,
Simon Roberts & Nina Emett
